Big Red Boat

"A Little Voodoo"
Sojourn Hills Records, 2002

Music: E. OíDell, D. Keith, B.Kull; Lyrics: D. Keith

Big Red Boat has been a fan favorite ever since GEG started playing it live sometime around 1998.
It is about a woman who made a promise to her friend that she would build a big red boat in her back yard and if things ever got really bad they would sail away on it.
Big Red Boat was released as a single to radio in January of 2003.

Philadelphia, PA.

The band's name, "Grey Eye Glances," comes from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe called To One In Paradise.

...And all my days are trances,
And all my nightly dreams,
Are where thy grey eye glances,
And where thy footstep gleams,
In what ethereal dances,
By what eternal streams.

when I go walking,
i hear them talking all over town
they say Iím gone, iíve lost my mind
well maybe i have,
and maybe thatís the point now
iím building a big red boat
building a big red boat
with full intentions to set sail
and one day iíll leave this all behind
and with your help, iím certain not to fail
tell me are you still with me?
remember this was our great plan?
weíd build a boat, and sail away
weíd leave them all back on dry land
iíve been building a big red boat
been building a big red boat
between my meetings and at night
iím tired, but i stay inspired
by listening to the beach boys tape
you made for me when we were nine

darling, you seem uneasy,
i know this is a tad bizarre
but out here on the plains of nebraska
i swear i smell the ocean, can you
every time you look up to the stars?
iím been building a big red boat
in my back yard building a big red boat
no one can tell me what to do
send doctors, send preachers, send lawyers,
they have their boats to build,
this boatís a boat thatís built for two
iíve been building a big red boat
in my back yard building a big red boat
with full intentions to set sail
and one day iíll leave this all behind
one day, before I lose my mind
meet me when youíre ready
meet me when youíve lost your head
you can meet me, Iíll be waiting
meet me by the waterís edge
